Resources for Workers       

If you’ve been laid off or had your hours reduced, you can apply for Unemployment Insurance through the State Employment Development Department (EDD). The State has waived the normal one-week waiting period.  CLICK HERE to apply.

If you’re unable to work because you have or were exposed to COVID-19, you can file a Disability Insurance Claim through the State EDD. The State has waived the normal one-week waiting period.  CLICK HERE to apply. 

Employees who need leave to take care of children or family members can apply for Paid Family Leave (PFL) through the State EDD. CLICK HERE to apply.

Resources for Businesses

The State launched a new website that highlights resources available to Californians impacted by COVID-19: www.covid19.ca.gov

Disaster Loans are available for small businesses, home owners and renters impacted by COVID-19.  CLICK HERE to apply for federal Small Business Administration loans and CLICK HERE to apply for a State loans.

LAEDC can work with businesses one-on-one to see if they qualify for other non-traditional loans. Please email LAEDC for details.

California’s Work Sharing Program provides an alternative to layoffs for businesses with reduced work or production.  CLICK HERE to apply.

The County provides individualized business assistance, from access to capital and tax incentives, to cost containment strategies so businesses can maintain operations and avoid layoffs. Please email LAEDC for details.

The County provides Rapid Response services to businesses and workers impacted by layoffs. We’ll work with your business to avoid layoffs and closures. We’ll help workers get connected to benefits, unemployment insurance and other services. Email Bizdev@wdacs.lacounty.gov to request services.

Halting Evictions

The County has enacted an emergency moratorium on residential and commercial evictions through May 31. Tenants will have until November 2020 to pay the property owner for any rent owed.
