A Day at the Beach - Kids love the beach and all of the surfside activities that surround them!  Avalon’s beaches are located in the center of town and within easy walking distance from most hotels, restaurants, and the boat terminals.  The water in Avalon is calm, protected by the harbor, so it is safe for children to swim and play.  Be sure to arrive early in the summer, as the sand quickly fills up with families staking their claim along the sunny waterfront!

Fun on Land & At Sea -There are endless options when it comes to having fun with the family on Catalina Island.  Horseback riding, hiking, playing miniature golf, visiting the museum, or going on a sightseeing tour to the island’s interior are wonderful ways to fill the day.  While most of Avalon is easy to explore on foot, renting bicycles or golf carts are some other fun ways to get around town.

If you are planning to spend the night in Avalon, why not catch a movie in the beautiful Avalon Theatre?   Movies show every evening, twice nightly on weekends. 

The Avalon Theatre is located in the Casino.  The Catalina Island Museum and Casino Art Gallery are also located there.

If its water adventures that you want to experience, snorkeling, boating, kayaking, fishing, and ocean rafting are all fun activities for families to enjoy together.  Many companies offer half and full day guided excursions that include lunch and/or snacks. 

For those who want to experience Catalina Island’s beautiful waters without getting wet, glass bottom boat or semi-sub tours are a great choice.
