The Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce’s Newly Designed Website, www.CatalinaChamber.com, is the Recipient of a 2009 Outstanding Website WebAward from the Web Marketing Association
AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND, Calif., -- Sept. 22, 2009 -- With over 2,000 website submissions from 45 countries, the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce claimed a 2009 WebAward in the Travel category.
Since 1997, the Web Marketing Association (WMA) has evaluated nominated websites from around the world for its annual WebAward Competition, recognizing excellence in website development across 96 industry categories. The Catalina Island Chamber’s new website received the highly sought after “Outstanding Website” award during this year’s competition.

Website entries are judged on seven criteria: design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, technology and ease of use and can earn a score between 0 and 70 points. The highest score in a given industry category wins Best Website of that industry. Of the remaining Web sites, those scoring above 60 points – out of a possible 70 – are granted the “Outstanding Website” WebAward, indicating the website displayed superb qualities across the board.
The Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce’s site, CatalinaChamber.com, earned 64 points out of 70 to win the Outstanding Website award, which recognizes work that demonstrates exceptional quality. Catalina’s scores included a perfect 10 for design, 9.5 for content, and 9s for innovation, technology, copywriting, and ease of use.
The Catalina Island website is the official destination guide for Catalina Island accommodations, activities, tours and events and was launched in May of this year by Trinet Internet Solutions, Inc. an Orange County website design firm.
