Rare Appearance at Catalina Museum
Rare Personal Appearance by Pattie Boyd, Former Wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton, at the Catalina Island Museum Saturday, July 2nd
“There are so many wonderful stories in Pattie Boyd’s life: Falling in love with a Beatle. Falling in love with another famous rock star, Eric Clapton, and being serenaded with ‘Wonderful Tonight.’…There is much that is excruciating in her life story…but here she is: not dead, not on drugs, not an alcoholic, but a survivor.” Daily Mail (London)
Pattie Boyd, former wife of rock superstars George Harrison and Eric Clapton, will make a rare personal appearance at the Catalina Island Museum on Saturday, July 2, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Boyd will be signing her recently published book Wonderful Tonight, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me, which reached number one on the New York Times’ bestseller list. The book is available for purchase at the museum.
Known as one of the most beautiful models of “Swinging 60s London,” Pattie Boyd’s marriage to George Harrison in 1966 allowed her to witness personally the cultural revolution The Beatles inspired. After separating from Harrison in 1974, she married Eric Clapton, a man who continues to be regarded as one of the greatest blues and rock’n’roll guitarists of our era. Her exhibition of photographs Yesterday and Today: The Beatles and Eric Clapton as Photographed by Pattie Boyd was organized by Boyd for a special exhibition at the Catalina Island Museum and is currently on view through July 31.
Tickets to the reception honoring Pattie Boyd are free for museum members and $10.00 for the general public.
The Catalina Island Museum is located on the ground floor of Avalon’s historic Casino, and is open 7 days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
