NEW Night Zip Line Eco Tour
Santa Catalina Island Announces California’s First Night Zip Line Eco Tour, Starting December 16th
Santa Catalina Island Company has announced the start of its new Night Zip Line Eco Tour experience beginning December 16th. The debut will be the first night zip line eco tour in California, building upon the extensive adventure offerings on Catalina Island accessible for all ages by Catalina Expeditions.
Night Zip is a heart pounding adventure that begins by stepping off a platform high above the ocean’s edge and plunging into total darkness. It covers three-quarters of a mile on five separate zip lines, reaching speeds of nearly 45 mph, at heights up to 300 feet above the canyon floor. At night, the speed and height seem faster and more thrilling than during the daylight.
“The Night Zip Line is an incredible extension of our new Expedition offerings, from scenic tours to off-road bi-fuel powered H1 Hummers expeditions through Catalina’s back country to rock climbing walls,” explains Brandon von Guenthner, Director of Sales, Santa Catalina Island Company.
Catalina Expeditions are a unique way to experience the island. Night Zip Line riders can fly under the stars and moon, while high tech and sustainable solar lighting illuminates the platforms. At each station, guides will talk about the unique ecology and bio-diversity of Catalina Island, its nocturnal wildlife, history and culture.
The two-hour expedition departs from Descanso Beach Club at dusk (check for rates and specific times). During the winter, tours will be offered on Friday and Saturday with everyday operation set to begin in the spring.
