25th Annual JazzTrax Festival on Catalina
The 25th Annual JazzTrax Festival brings 30 of the world’s finest jazz musicians to Catalina Island for three unforgettable October weekends of seaside seranades.
The 25th Annual Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival voted 2011's Best Jazz Festival in America, returns to Catalina Island this October! During the first three full weekends in October, visitors to Catalina Island will hear more than the sound of waves rolling onto the beaches or the rustle of the breeze through the palm trees—they’ll listen to top-notch jazz artists who perform in the 25th Annual JazzTrax Festival in one of the world’s most unique and beautiful venues - the historic 1929 Casino Ballroom in the seaport village of Avalon.
On October 7– 9, October 14 – 16, and October 21–23, thirty of the world’s finest smooth jazz musicians will perform on the stage where Benny Goodman once played before thousands of adoring fans. Artists featured at the main event include Spyro Gyra, the Rippingtons, jazz guitarist Nick Colionne, trumpeter Rick Braun, saxophonist Marion Meadows, and legendary flutist Tim Weisburg, among others. For a complete listing of jazz artists, visit the JazzTrax website.
For jazz fans who don’t want to wait until the main shows, the festival gets off to an early start each Thursday evening (October 6, 13 and 20th) when jazz artists Mindi Abair, Lee Ritenour, Norman Brown will perform “Unplugged Under the Stars” at the new location of Descanso Beach Club.
