New "Behind the Scenes" Tour

Relive a Bygone Era of Dance and Big Bands with Riveting New Behind the Scenes Casino Tour
New Tour Follows Footsteps of Entertainment Industry Titans

Santa Catalina Island Company’s new Behind the Scenes Casino Tour takes visitors back in time to an era when big band leaders were king, and “talkie” motion pictures were the latest fad. It’s a nostalgic tour in the footsteps of the performers and crew who made the Casino one of the most exciting places on earth.

The Casino building is a working theater, ballroom, and concert hall to this day. Focusing on the cultural history of the building, this one-of-a-kind tour brings you unprecedented access to backstage areas that very few people are allowed to see.

Visitors will experience this historic building as never before. Visit the “green” rooms used by Errol Flynn and Cary Grant, walk across the stage where Benny Goodman played before thousands of adoring fans, and see the editing room where Cecil B. DeMille viewed the “rushes” of the day’s movie shoot. Feel what it was like during Avalon’s Golden Age.

Tickets may be purchased at any Discovery Tours location or the Pavilion Lodge and Hotel Atwater. Advance reservations are recommended. For more information, please call 800-322-3434. This tour requires uphill walking inside the casino.  For more about the Behind the Scenes Casino Tour and all of the Island Company’s new and most popular tours, visit Discovery Tours.

A small herd of black buck antelope was introduced to the island in 1967.
