2/21   34th Annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup

This is the only time scuba diving is allowed in Avalon Bay, with 500+ expected volunteer divers collecting trash and debris. Awards ceremony follows on Wrigley Stage with prizes & giveaways. 5/16   28th Annual Silent Film Benefit
One of the greatest horror films of the silent era, The Phantom of the Opera will be showcased during the Silent Film Benefit. The film will be presented in the famed Avalon Casino Theater, one of the grandest movie palaces of the 1920s. Live accompaniment of the 1025 horror classic starring Lon Chaney will feature a 26-piece symphony orchestra and a soprano vocalist led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Richard Kaufman. 1pm-3:30pm. Come out and see the women finish the longest Polynesian canoe race in the continental U.S., 26 miles from Newport Beach to Avalon, on Saturday, at Casino Point. Then enjoy the after race Hawaiian festivities at the center of town; including music and beer garden. On Sunday watch the men start their race back to Newport Beach from Lovers Cove.
