How To Get to Catalina Island

By sea or air, getting to Catalina is easy and fun. You can get to Catalina Island from four mainland ports in Southern California - San Pedro, Long Beach, Newport Beach or Dana Point - and the ride is only about an hour by boat or 15 minutes by helicopter.

Once on the Island, the town of Avalon is easy to navigate by foot – it’s only about 1 square mile. Or you can take a taxi, a trolley or a shuttle bus to your destination. Or you can rent bicycles or our famous golf carts.

Buffalo roam the interior of the island. They were brought here in 1924 as "extras" for a movie.
