Catalina Island Scuba Diving Locations

All around Catalina Island, scuba diving locations abound. There are beautiful areas that are suited toward all levels of diving experience. Some of the most popular Catalina Island scuba diving locations are at the Casino Point dive park, Ship Rock, Farnsworth Banks, Lover's Cove, Long Point, Blue Caverns, Yellowtail Point, Bird Rock, and Sea Fan Grotto.

At these dive locations, divers regularly see kelp forests, giant black sea bass, yellowtail, lobsters, abalone, horn shark, sheep crab, halibut, leopard sharks, sea lions, shovelnose guitar fish, eels, and more. The marine life surrounding Catalina Island is plentiful and abundant. The guarantee of seeing a wide variety of marine life is one reason many people continue coming to Catalina for the diving experience. Water temperatures are fairly mild year-round as well. The winter months can see the temp drop to 52 degrees, but increased visibility makes up for the cold temps. During summer months, water temps hover around 75 degrees, but there is also some reduced visibility. Typically, visibility in the summer is around 30 - 60 feet. Winter will provide around 30 - 80 feet.
